The 22 year old Italian Matteo Arnaldi has won the IV Challenger Costa Cálida Región de Murcia in a hard-fought final against the Croatian Borna Gojo (6-4, 7-6).

During the prize-giving ceremony, the young player thanked ‘the organisation of the tournament’ and highlighted ‘the possibility of having been able to compete with professionals of the stature of Feliciano López – with whom he faced in his first match of the tournament’.

The Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919 was the setting for this international sporting event, giving the public the chance to enjoy top-level sportsmen and women, such as the finalists. Specifically, Marteo Arnaldi is currently ranked 116th in the world, while Borna Gojo is ranked 117th.

A consolidated tournament on the international circuit

The president of the RMCT 1919, Antonio Saura, stressed ‘how proud we are to have hosted this competition for the fourth year, which has become consolidated on the international circuit and which gives the people of Murcia the opportunity to enjoy extraordinary days’. He also indicated that ‘we have experienced a particularly exciting final, watching the two top seeds of the tournament play on the court’.
