Tallon Griekspoor has won the II ATP Challenger Costa Cálida Region of Murcia after defeating Roberto Carballés in the final played at the Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919.
The tennis player from the Netherlands started losing the first set against a very superior Carballés who won 3-6 and finished with a standing ovation from the stands.
But in the second set, Griekspoor pulled himself together. He was able to give his service and, although he was not able to stop the Spaniard, was walking hand in hand until the tenth game, when, with 5-5 on the scoreboard, got the break and ended up winning 7-5 to tie the final.
In the last set he also knew how to suffer. Carballés started with a devastating start, breaking serve and winning his serve. But Griekspoor, solid, responded and equalised 2-2. From there, the player from the Netherlands, with great confidence in his tennis, was carving out his victory to get the final 6-3.
Griekspoor thus becomes the second winner of the ATP Challenger Costa Cálida Región de Murcia, succeeding Carballés himself, who won in 2019.
